Geospatial Analyst

Hours of Work: 4/10’s, 7 a.m. - 6 p.m., M-Th

The ideal candidate for this position would excel in the use of Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) software utilized in mapping, spatial analysis, and imagery analysis as well as Python scripting or another language for process automation in ESRI; have experience using ERDAS Imagine, ENVI, or other Remote Sensing software for imagery and LiDAR data processing and analysis as well as the automation of those processes; have experience using spatial statistical analysis tools, relational databases, and LiDAR or other elevation data; exhibit the ability to work in a team-centric environment under tight deadlines as well as adjust to changing priorities in the work environment; possess the ability to effectively communicate with customers to determine their product needs; and demonstrate proficiency in using MS Office.

INTRODUCTION: Human Resources will screen applications and supplemental questionnaires. Candidates possessing the strongest skills and experience for this position will be forwarded to the hiring department for further evaluation and to determine who will be invited to the formal interview process. The candidate hired will be required to pass a drug screening, background check, and may be required to pass a job-related physical evaluation.

Training and Experience:
A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is graduation from a four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in GIS, geospatial sciences, remote sensing, civil engineering, computer science or a related field; and three years of increasingly responsible experience in the uses and administration of geographical information systems to produce analytical and cartographic products and services; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:
A valid Nevada driver’s license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District’s Vehicle Insurance Policy.
