Facilities Engineering Project Manager (Early Career)

If so, you could be the Facilities Engineering Project Manager (Limited Term Employee) we are seeking to join our team!
On any given day, you may be called on to:
  • Work with engineering personnel to develop customer requirements for complex and high-rigor projects.
  • Deliver multiple customer projects at all stages from concept through to completion.
  • Projects include:
  • Those that are visible both internal and external being tracked at the Laboratory level and directly by DOE.
  • Larger, more complex, and require high-rigor management, like congressionally authorized line items, or other externally funded unique projects.
  • Lead the project team of internal or external engineering and architectural personnel: construction contractors, customers, sponsors, and suppliers, to ensure that the project meets scope, schedule, and cost requirements per DOE Orders and Sandia’s requirements.
  • Actively participates in making technical contributions to the project through capturing and developing the customer’s technical requirements, properly communicating the design solutions to those requirements, and providing design assurance and constructability reviews.
  • Make technical and programmatic decisions regarding the direction of a project; being held accountable for the results of those decisions.
If not already certified, successful candidate must obtain PMP or equivalent certification within 2 years of hire.
Qualifications We Require
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Architecture plus two (2) years of demonstrated experience in Facilities Project Management; or Master's degree in Engineering or Architecture; or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Experience using the Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook) and Internet Explorer.
Qualifications We Desire
  • Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Project Performance Management/Earned Value Management System (EVMS) training.
  • OSHA 10 hour training and knowledge of International Building Codes (IBC).
  • Broad construction/field experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to:
  • Work effectively with a wide range of personnel and personalities.
  • “Carry through” to completion complex action items or process improvements.
  • Evaluate methods/processes and to improve them as appropriate.
  • Prioritize and balance complex competing activities.
  • Experience facilitating meetings as well as experience with attending weekly construction status meetings.
  • Contract development (including negotiations) and monitoring experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills which will include the ability to ask critical questions of both customers and suppliers.
  • Self-motivated individual that can work both independently as well as a close-knit team environment.
About Our Team
The Customer Operations Support Department provides expedited and rapid turnaround engineering design and construction support (referred to as Facilities Express FE) for small projects (typically ranging from $1K to $100K) that are identified and funded by line organizations. The department also provides inspection, safety, and work acceptance support for all construction projects performed at Sandia National Laboratories to ensure construction code compliance.
Position Information
This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.
Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.

Security Clearance
Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
