Examples of Work
Oversee the work for the Geodetics Field Office and Photogrammetric Survey staff, which includes providing support to staff, tracking project schedules to ensure deliverables are provided on time, maintain knowledge of active projects being surveyed, their issues and status. Schedules, coordinates and monitors work assignments for preliminary, geodetic, GPS and Photogrammetric Survey with in-house staff and field personnel in district offices. As needed, develop contract documents for consultant survey services. Coordinate with the Project Scoping Unit Head and Roadway Design Division to properly identify survey needs for preliminary and additional surveys. Conduct research and lead efforts that will enhance and lead to efficiencies in the NDOT Survey Program. Such efforts may include developing and maintaining a Survey Manual, developing and implementing plan for the 2022 datum change, development and use of NDOT RTK Survey Network, and collaboration with District Survey Coordinators. Coordination with NDOT's UAS program may be needed to further enhance their capabilities. Promote the professional development of staff. Provide assistance to the Project Studies and Survey Engineer and Project Development Engineer as needed. 

Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:  Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline and experience performing professional level engineering assignments in those specific fields applicable to the functions assigned to the position. Must possess a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license at the time of application, and be licensed by the Nebraska Board of Engineers and Architects at time of employment or be able to obtain such license within 90 days of employment.

PREFERRED: 5 Years of survey experience in conducting transportation related surveys (Control, GPS, Geodetic, etc.). 3 years of supervisory experience. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to clearly and effectively communicate, both verbally and in written form, with internal and external individuals throughout different levels of the organizations or the general public. Ability to interpret and develop contract documents with consultants to procure services. Strong organizational skills. Intermediate experience of using Geopak, MicroStation, Trimble Business Center and Microsoft Office Suite applications. Knowledge of roadway design and construction practices to adequately assess and request appropriate survey requirements for projects.
