The position provides complex administrative support to the Community Development Department and assists on projects and programs related to Neighborhood Development, Grants Management, Code Enforcement, Building Safety, and Planning and Zoning. The entry level position is ideal for a candidate looking to get exposure to local government and, more specifically, the functions of the Community Development Department. An ideal candidate would have strong customer service skills, the ability to function in a fast-paced environment and represent the City of Peoria to the general public in a professional manner. Performs a variety of duties in support of the Community Development Department services and functions; aids in the development process in the areas of planning, inspections and economic development; provides customer service to applicants, developers, consultants, the general public, and outside organizations regarding City codes, policies, standards, and processes; processes development applications, building permits and zoning certificates; assists in the Commission process to include agenda creation and minutes and performs related duties as assigned.
