Physician (Psychiatrist)

This is a full-time staff psychiatrist position, (board certified or board eligible) supporting Behavioral Health within Psychiatry Services at the Oklahoma City VA Health Care System, which is affiliated with the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. Our interest in is public service and in caring for Veterans.

This psychiatrist has clinical responsibility for outpatient management and works with a multidisciplinary team consisting of other psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatric social workers, psychiatric nurses and psychology technicians.

Provides consultation and direct care for outpatients manifesting a wide variety of serious psychiatric and psychosocial problems. Also responds to emergency consultation requests from the admission area and from other clinics in the medical center.

Rotates with other physicians on a monthly roster for weekend/holiday coverage, and weeknight backup for Residents.

Through affiliated institutions, may participate in education and training psychiatry residents, medical students, psychology interns and allied health trainees. As time permits, may participate in research projects. Depending on fluctuating staffing patterns and workloads, may be assigned to other programs within Psychiatry Services.
