Insurance Operations Attorney

Position

The WCF legal department has an immediate opening for someone who can demonstrate the WCF values to join their team as the Insurance Operations Attorney. This is a full-time, exempt position based in WCF's Sandy, Utah headquarters. This posting is open to both internal and external candidates.

Responsibilities

•Work with Assistant General Counsel and other members of the Legal department to ensure compliance with stator and regulatory requirements.
•Develop a thorough understanding of the company's business, strategy, policies, and culture to provide a broad range of legal analysis, services, support, and counsel to the company's business units.
•Work directly with IT, Underwriting, Sales, Finance, HR, and other departments to provide legal counseling and guidance for strategic business goals and objectives.
•Collaborate effectively with counterparts in other business units and members of the legal team to provide guidance and direction regarding contract interpretation, obligations, risk exposure, dispute resolution, operational implementation, and other legal matters.
•Work with Compliance to prepare and file reports with various insurance departments.
•Maintain contract management storage systems.
•Consult with and manage outside counsel as needed.

Qualifications

The most qualified applicants will have:
•Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school
•Active membership in the Utah State Bar Association.
•At least four years of insurance or regulatory experience.
•Preference for a candidate with strong experience negotiating vendor, data privacy, and other contracts.
•Experience with client negotiations with a focus on moving contracts to finalization.
•Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to resolve difficult contract negotiations.
•Exceptional organizational, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills.
•Ability to provide balanced risk assessments and solutions to complex problems.
•Strong legal research and writing ability.
•Excellent problem-solving skills.

An internal candidate should have six months in their current position. Candidates should have acceptable job performance and a good attendance record in their current position and must notify their current supervisor that they've applied for the position.
